Maryland toll prices may be rising after decade of no increases

(Annapolis, MD) -- After a decade of holding the line against increases, Maryland drivers may face a rise in toll fees again.

The executive director of the Maryland Transportation Authority, Joseph Sagal, told the Maryland Commission on Transportation Revenue and Infrastructure Needs recently toll fees may need to be increased again.

He said revenues dropped during the pandemic as fewer people commuted while operating costs rose.

Former Republican Governor Larry Hogan had cut toll prices twice because he said he wanted to put money back into taxpayers' pockets.
