Popular Baltimore jazz organist Dottie Timberlake passes away at 92

(Baltimore, MD) -- Beloved Baltimore jazz organist Dottie Timberlake has passed away the age of 92.

Timberlake died from a brain aneurysm January 12th at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.

Timberlake began her career playing at the old Knotty Pines Tavern on West Biddle Street and later at the Hotel Theresa in Harlem.

She played clubs on The Block and Bill Pellington's Iron Horse, among other venues.

Timberlake began teaching at the Children's Guild and toured with Young Audiences of Maryland.

Her biography also includes a brief session with Billie Holiday.

Timberlake built a loyal following through her performances at Gertrude's Restaurant at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
