Nick Mosby plans to file for reelection by Friday deadline

(Baltimore, MD) -- Following his ex-wife's mortgage fraud conviction, it was business as usual for City Council President Nick Mosby as he chaired the Board of Estimates meeting Wednesday.

During Marilyn Mosby's federal trial, he testified that he handled the couple's finances and did not tell her the extent of their money and tax issues.

A forensic analysis of his bank accounts also found he defaulted on student loans, had his car repossessed and claimed thousands of dollars in charitable tax deductions he did not make.

Mosby is not facing charges, but following the Board meeting reporters asked if he can continue as Council President and deal with budget matters.

Mosby says he wholeheartedly believes he can do the job and he plans to file by the 9 p.m. deadline Friday.

He says voters should look at his track record in elected office, not his personal financial troubles.
