(Baltimore, MD) -- The trial for one of two suspects charged in the December, 2021, ambush murder of Baltimore Police Officer Keona Holley in Curtis Bay begins today.
The suspect, 34-year-old Elliott Knox, is charged with first degree murder and related gun charges in the death of Holley.
Knox faces life in prison if convicted.
A 39-year-old mother of four, Officer Holley was working an overtime shift and was sitting in her patrol car when Knox and Travon Shaw allegedly approached her from behind and opened fire.
Knox and Shaw are also charged in the shooting death of 27-year-old Justin Johnson later that night.
Police and prosecutors have not disclosed any motive for the killings.
