(Montgomery County, MD) -- A second team is being sent to North Carolina to relieve Maryland Task Force 1 crews that had been carrying out rescues in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
The new team left for Asheville Tuesday evening.

The 30-members of the FEMA urban search and rescue team includes personnel from the Washington, DC and Montgomery, Howard, Frederick and Prince George's county Fire and EMS Departments.

During the first deployment, the team performed dozens of water rescues and used helicopters to help evacuate stranded residents.
