Morgan State University Celebrates 4th Annual Trunk or Treat

By Zakary’s Williams with SGJC Student News Network

Morgan State University transformed one of its parking lots into a Halloween wonderland. The event was hosted by the Office of Residence Life & Housing and the Brothers of the Morgan Male Initiative on Leadership & Excellence.

Families, students, and community members gathered for an afternoon filled with music, treats, and an array of creative costumes that brought out Halloween’s best.

A DJ set the vibe with upbeat music that had the crowd dancing throughout the day. One especially lively moment came when a group from one of Morgan’s organizations broke into a dance, showing off their moves in full costume.

With over 80 organizations, fraternities, sororities, university departments, and local groups participating, Trunk or Treat offered something for everyone. It was candy galore for kids of all ages dressed as superheroes, animals, and classic spooky figures.

Organizers aimed to create a safe, festive environment where everyone could come together and enjoy the Halloween spirit. The event was a hit, with attendees encouraged to not just “meet us there, but beat us there,” a call that was happily answered as the community came out in full force to celebrate.

Beyond candy and costumes, Trunk or Treat served as an opportunity for Morgan State’s organizations to connect with the community and demonstrate their commitment to a family-friendly environment.

“This event is all about bringing people together, especially the kids, and giving them a Halloween experience they’ll remember,” shared Jaia Jackson, Chief of Staff of Creators of MSU, an organization of the University.

“Morgan’s goal is to foster unity, safety, and fun for everyone. I personally enjoyed seeing the crazy costumes.”
