Baltimore, MD) -- The first woman elected as Baltimore City Council president died Sunday at the age of 83.
Mary Pat Clarke passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a brief illness.

He says Baltimore is a better place because she lived here and "dedicated her life to serving all of us, and for that, we as a city are eternally grateful."

Clarke is survived by four children and ten grandchildren.
