BALTIMORE — The Maryland Transportation Authority is warning residents about a scam involving texts and emails.
The fraudulent messages claim recipients owe money for using toll roads.
The department says Maryland does not send texts regarding toll debt. The scam is attempting to steal personal information, including credit card numbers, usernames, and passwords.
Residents are urged not to respond to any suspicious messages and to report them to the FBI immediately.
