New police unit planned to boost safety in Baltimore's entertainment districts

(Baltimore, MD) -- A new Baltimore Police "Entertainment Unit" is in the works to increase patrols in the city's busiest social hubs, including Federal Hill, after recent crimes in the area.

The move follows the second act of vandalism at Moo Moo Cows Ice Cream shop, where suspects smashed a temporary front window after an earlier incident caused thousands of dollars in damage.

Residents say the added police presence could help curb issues ranging from property damage to public disorder.

The three-phase plan would start in downtown and waterfront areas before expanding to Canton and the Stadium District.
