Baltimore County Police launch “Community Conversations” to build trust with residents

(WEAA)—Baltimore County police are introducing a new program designed to bridge the gap between officers and residents.

Community Conversations is a six-week series that gives community members a chance to see the person "beyond the badge" while tackling challenging topics such as bias, community trust, and mental health.

The initiative reflects a growing push nationwide for transparency and stronger relationships between law enforcement and communities.

“As a pioneer in community policing, the Department consistently strives to develop new and innovative programs, said Police Chief Robert O. McCullough. “Community Conversations aims to break the traditional mold.”

Over six weeks, residents and officers will discuss:

  1. The people behind the badge
  2. Implicit bias
  3. The evolution of policing and community trust
  4. What it takes to become an officer
  5. Mental health and officer wellness
  6. Split-second decisions in the field

Community Conversations will begin on Thursday, October 16. Registration is available online.
