BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Baltimore County Police have arrested 38-year-old Ricardo Sawyer in connection with a local sex trafficking case involving multiple juvenile victims.

Detectives from the department’s Special Victims Unit and Crimes Against Children Unit launched an investigation over the summer after learning about several minors who were allegedly targeted by Sawyer. Police say he used a range of tactics to approach victims, including social media, in-person encounters, and distributing pamphlets and business cards.

According to investigators, several victims have been identified, but authorities believe there may be others who have not yet come forward.

The case was investigated in partnership with the FBI Baltimore Field Office’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.

Sawyer is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on multiple sex offense charges.

Anyone with information related to the case or additional victims is urged to contact the Baltimore County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit at 410-887-7720.
