(Baltimore, MD) -- Maryland is parting ways with the contractor slated to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge's next phase.
State transportation officials say they will not retain Kiewit Infrastructure for Phase Two after cost negotiations broke down and the company's proposal came in far above state estimates.
Kiewit will continue working on the project's first phase through the end of the year, including foundation work and construction of a temporary trestle.
The state says work on the bridge will continue uninterrupted as it begins searching for a new contractor to complete the rebuild.
