Maryland confirms first human case of West Nile Virus of 2023
(Baltimore, MD) -- An adult on the Eastern Shore is Maryland's first human case of the West Nile Virus for this year.
Officials with the Maryland Department of Health made the announcement earlier this week.
They're reminding Marylanders to take simple steps to protect themselves as most infected people don't show any signs of illness.
West Nile is transmitted by mosquitoes and the peak period for transmission continues into next month.
