BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Residents are blaming staffing shortages within the police and fire department for lives being lost in Baltimore City.
On Sunday, multiple people were shot at Carroll Park in south Baltimore, one person was killed.
The Baltimore Firefighter’s Union says during the shooting, there weren’t enough emergency units to send to the scene.
Baltimore City Fire Chief Niles Ford addressed the allegation saying, emergency responders arrived to the scene within minutes and did an outstanding job rendering care to the victims.

During the multiple shooting in Carroll Park, when 3 additional #BCFDEMS units were requested, communications replied “we have NO units to send you.” The delays in service cannot be measured. Our dedicated members still provided world class EMS care until ambos arrived. SOUND UP https://t.co/GwxKQnzNhr pic.twitter.com/CcpY8quzVN

The shooting that occurred in Carroll Park over the weekend was horrible, but as always #BCFD members did an outstanding job rendering care to those injured. Units were available. Units responded (within minutes) & transported patients. @BaltimorePolice pic.twitter.com/mH2SjaH1D2
