Baltimore a "Welcoming City", won't help ICE with immigrant enforcement

(l-r) Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison, Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young

Mayor Jack Young and Police Commissioner Michael Harrison are supporting the immigrant community by declaring Baltimore a "Welcoming City" for immigrants. According to police department policy, officers will not assist federal immigration officials in civil immigration enforcement, only in the application of criminal law.  Speaking at the Southeast Anchor Library Tuesday, Mayor Young said regardless of the federal government's position Baltimore will stand by its decision to be an inclusive, fair and welcoming city.
