Sheila Dixon concedes the race 11 days after the beleaguered Maryland primary elections, one that saw long lines at voting locations, ballot printing errors and Maryland Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford calling for Linda Lamone, Administrator of the Maryland State Board of Elections to resign. WEAA’s Julius White reports.

Brandon Scott issued a statement Saturday afternoon saying the ongoing demonstrations for justice and the final election results are reasons for great hope.  “Baltimore City saw the highest voter participation rates of any jurisdiction in Maryland,” said Scott. “You should be proud of this accomplishment.”

The 36-year old Scott--who was in the youngest in the crowded Democratic field of more than 20 candidates for mayor, recognized that Baltimore faces many. “We are in this together and need each other,” said Scott. “It will take all of us to pull together and work as a community to move our city forward.”
