"The vaccine is critical": 'COVID-19 All in This Together' series

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — As part of WEAA’s COVID-19: All in This Together series, Dr. Kaye talks to health experts and community leaders who share why they believe the vaccine is crucial in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. 

David Satcher, the 16th Surgeon General of the United States and former Secretary for Health in the Department of Health and Human Services, addresses concerns surrounding the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, vaccine passports and discusses additional preventive measures to help slow the spread of the virus. 

Pastor Corey Barnes with GraceCity Church in Baltimore shares how he and his family were affected by COVID-19. 

Reverend Daniel Carter with New Shiloh Baptist Church, who was initially hesitant about receiving the vaccine, also shares how the coronavirus affected his family and what pushed him to get vaccinated. 

"For me, it was about getting the shot for myself, my family and my future…” 

Dr. Marvin ‘Doc’ Cheatham, former president of the Baltimore chapters of the NAACP, shares the amount of COVID-related deaths in Baltimore alone, convinced him to receive the vaccine.
