WEAA honored at 2020 Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards

The awards event is usually in Ocean City, Maryland, but this year was virtual this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Twenty-two stations in Washington, Maryland, and Delaware submitted 284 entries in the contest, which featured news and sports stories from 2019. 

WEAA staff is proud to be honored in several categories:

Outstanding Use of Sound: WEAA on Assignment, Adam Ford (Student)

Outstanding Coverage of a Continuing Story

Outstanding Editorial or Commentary

Outstanding Public Affairs

Outstanding Documentary/In-Depth Reporting:

 

CAPBA also awarded a $3000 scholarship to Emily Riley, a junior studying broadcast journalism at the University of Maryland in College Park. The Associated Press is a not-for-profit news cooperative representing 1,400 newspapers and 5,000 broadcast stations in the United States.
