What is our commitment as humans? - Dr. Mae Jemison, first Black woman in space

Dr. Mae Jemison, Feb. 2021 interview with Dr. Kaye (WEAA)

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) —“What is our commitment as humans?” - Dr. Mae Jemison.

To kick off Women's HerStory Month, Dr. Kaye interviews Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African American woman to travel into space.

Dr. Jemison reflects on opportunities and challenges she’s faced as a Black woman and also shares why science literacy is important.

“I think sometimes in order to move forward we also have to be able to tell those stories, they don’t mitigate or obscure the trials and tribulations.  But I think the ultimate story of humanity, but let’s say of Black woman, of people in this country is that we are still here and we have made a tremendous difference and had a tremendous impact on the world, even from a place you could be killed for reading”, Dr. Jemison shares during her interview.

Baltimore native, Micarie Kemp has always been passionate about working in the media.
