Baltimore Community Lending Expands Service Area to Counties Surrounding Baltimore City

Information from bclending.org

Baltimore Community Lending (BCL), a mission-based lender and Community Development Financial Institution, is pleased to announce that it is expanding its geographic service area to include the counties directly surrounding Baltimore City. Entrepreneurs and commercial real estate developers in the Baltimore-Columbia-Towson Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), inclusive of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties, are now eligible to apply for loans and services from BCL.

As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), BCL’s mission is, and will remain, to support the revitalization and strengthening of underserved neighborhoods through innovative and flexible financial assistance. Applications for real estate projects and small businesses located in low-and-moderate income neighborhoods will continue to be prioritized. Having served Baltimore City exclusively for the last thirty-three years, BCL will maintain its commitment to Re-Imagining Baltimore by ensuring that at least 60% of its loans are concentrated there.

“Our mission to stabilize communities by providing affordable capital remains the same. We will offer greater and inclusive economic growth opportunities and impact businesses in the Baltimore MSA because we are committed to the support and growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs of color in disadvantaged communities,” said Watchen Harris Bruce, President & CEO of Baltimore Community Lending.

“We know that many small businesses and community developers in the these counties are working hard to improve their communities, and we look forward to providing flexible capital to help them achieve their dreams. Now we can say ‘Yes’ to more people, more projects, and more economic opportunities,” said Jeffrey Wilke, Board Chairman of Baltimore Community Lending.
