Today With Dr. Kaye: Building institutional power, confronting systemic and structural racism

Conversations Across America: Making Space to Talk About Race.

In the first hour of the show, Dr. Kaye is joined by Dayvon Love, director of public policy for Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle in Baltimore, a grass-roots think tank that advances the policy interests of Black people.

The two discuss his recent article,Black people can win in Baltimore, the impact of the Brooklyn Homes mass shooting, the media's portrayal of Baltimore and the importance of building institutional power among black people.

In the second hour, Dr. Kaye is joined by Dr. Michael Bell, Senior Pastor of the Greater St. Stephen First Church-Baptist, Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. Bell reflects on the lack of progress made since the civil rights movement and emphasizes the need for justice and systemic change to overcome racism.

In the last half hour, Kimberlé Crenshaw, a civil rights advocate and a prominent figure in critical race theory talks about the significance of saying the names of black women and girls who have lost their lives due to racism, acknowledges the risks faced by black women and discusses the interconnectedness of various forms of oppression.
