Jay Leonhart On Piano Jazz

Jay Leonhart.

The turning point that propelled musician Jay Leonhart to take up the bass was hearing Ray Brown with the Oscar Peterson Trio in 1955. Leonhart has since become a superior bassist, a witty lyricist and a charming singer. He's played with musicians from virtually all genres, and has been on the New York jazz scene for almost five decades.

In this 2001 episode of Piano Jazz, he performs his composition "Blues For Marilyn," as well as several standards.

Originally broadcast in the fall of 2001.
