(WEAA)— At least six people are dead after a pedestrian-involved crash on Interstate 695 Wednesday.

The crash occurred around 12:40 p.m. in a work zone near Security Boulevard in Baltimore County.
Police say, “for unknown reasons at this time”, the driver of an Acura entered the work zone, traveled in between temporary placed jersey walls, and struck multiple construction workers before overturning.
The driver was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski tweeted, "On behalf of all the residents of Baltimore County, we offer our sincere condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those who have lost their lives in today's tragic crash and my prayers remain with those injured in this horrific incident."
Maryland State police are the investigating the cause of the crash.
