Baltimore Schools CEO says math scores low statewide

(Baltimore, MD) -- The CEO of Baltimore City Schools, Dr. Dr. Sonja Santelises, acknowledges math scores are low across Baltimore but she also notes scores are low throughout Maryland.

Dr. Santelises' comments came last night at a hearing before members of the Baltimore City Council.

The chair of the Education, Workforce and Youth Committee, Robert Stokes, calls the hearing a good start but he wants to see the data that shows what City Schools are doing to fix the problem is working.

The latest test results show no students at 23 City schools are proficient in math.

Dr. Santelises says the district plans to release a more detailed plan on what the district it doing to resolve the problem at a hearing May 2nd.
