(Baltimore, MD) -- A musical that debuted in Baltimore 50 years ago before going on to become an iconic hit on Broadway, The Wiz, is returning to stages nationwide starting with the Hippodrome in Baltimore.
It opened in Baltimore in 1974 and made it to Broadway a year later.
The actress who plays Auntie Em in the show, Baltimore native Melody Betts, says The Wiz was the first musical she ever saw and she calls it magical.
The Wiz opens September 23rd and tickets are on sale now.
