(Baltimore, MD) -- The passing of Baltimore Orioles legend and Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson is drawing reactions from state and national leaders, from both sides of the aisle.
Robinson was 86 when he passed away yesterday.
Democrat Governor Wes Moore referenced Robinson's 16 Gold Gloves when he said he hopes heaven is ready for more gold.
"Rest in peace to a true Baltimore legend, someone who defined loyalty in sports by playing for the O’s for 23 seasons—his entire career. Hope heaven’s ready for some gold, because Brooks is bringing them 16 golden gloves today."-Wes Moore.
Former Governor Larry Hogan, a Republican, says he and his family are praying for Robinson's family.
"Saddened to hear about the passing of Baltimore Orioles legend Brooks Robinson who leaves behind an incredible legacy. Yumi and I are praying for his family and loved ones."- Larry Hogan.
Mayor Brandon Scott says it's time to celebrate the many contributions Robinson made to baseball.
An 18-time All-Star, Robinson is regarded as the best defensive third baseman in MLB history.
