The Baltimore Teachers Union is asking the city to shut down schools until heating problems are resolved. The school system says it responded to about 60 complaints of heating problems Wednesday. Some schools were closed or closed early as the problems left students in some schools-- shivering in the classroom. The district says many families rely on the free meals and after-school care.
On WEAA’s Mornings with Mykel Thursday, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh was adamant in her stance that no child should be sitting in a classroom without heat and the public should hold school leaders accountable. Pugh said she agreed with the Baltimore Teachers Union on this one.
