Young suspends 2 more of Mayor Pugh's top staffers

Acting Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young placed the aides on paid leave Wednesday.  They are identified as Chief of Staff Bruce Williams and the city's top lobbyist Karen Stokes.

Young says he is prohibited from talking about personnel decisions, but says no one has been fired.  Three other aides were put on leave last week while Pugh is being investigated for her Healthy Holly book deals:

  • Afra Vance-White ( the city’s director of external relations)
  • Poetri Deal (Stokes’ deputy in the government relations office)
  •  Gary Brown Jr. (who also worked in the lobbying office)

The Baltimore Sun reports while Mayor Pugh is on paid leave, as are some of her highest-ranking and closest associates, it’s costing taxpayers their annual salaries add up to at least $622,000. Pugh remains on an indefinite leave of absence to recover from pneumonia.
