Baltimore DPW says water service restored at Poe Homes Public Housing Community

Services were restored late Saturday in the West Baltimore community after residents went more than five days without water.  The Department of Public Works says the pressure was low in some units and that it would take time for the water to travel through the pipes.

The city has arranged for portable toilets to be stationed at Lexington and Saratoga streets.  Portable showers and a portable laundry facility are also available on Poppleton Street. Lester Davis, a spokesman for  Mayor Jack Young says the city has also arranged for relocation for residents who desire it, to a hotel or other public housing communities  until the water situation is fully resolved. Mayor Young [DPW] employees will not rest until the situation is fixed and water service is fully restored.  DPW officials say the disruption to water service happened Monday after a 20-inch water main break.
