Baltimore Police Union to release their own crime fighting plan, despite Commissioner's plan

Facebook

FOP Lodge 3 says the men and women of the Police Department are losing faith in their elected and appointed leaders so it's preparing a comprehensive strategy to make Baltimore a safer place to live, work and visit.

In a ost on Twitter, the union says unlike the current plan, its strategy will be based on the knowledge and experience of current and former members of the Police Department. The plan will be completed within 30 days and given to the Police Commissioner, Mayor and Governor.

BPD Commissioner Michael Harrison released his crime fighting plan in July, saying crime reduction strategy” will make the department more “efficient and effective, and the city significantly safer.”  It didn’t take long for the police union to express their disappointment—saying Harrison’s plan was nothing new and that will not be able to, under any circumstances, implement the new crime plan as intended,” Mancuso wrote.

"Any crime plan must begin with the stark reality of the current resources available, not the resources that are desired." The Baltimore Sun reports the police union declined three invitations to meet with Harrison to go over to the plan. No word on the when the police union’s crime fighting plan will be released. The FOP Lodge 3 had not responded to WEAA for comments.
