Brandon Scott wins Baltimore Democratic Nomination for Mayor

Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott

The Associated Press is declaring Brandon Scott as the winner of the Democratic nomination for Mayor of Baltimore, defeating former Mayor Sheila Dixon. According to the ballot count on the Maryland State Board of Elections website, Scott captured 29.4% of the vote (42,528 votes) to Dixon's 27.7% (40,170 votes). Scott will face Republican Shannon Wright in November's general election. Democrats outnumber Republicans in Baltimore City 10-1.
