Tyra was a long member of WEAA's Gospel Grace announce team for over 30 years.  Derek Fletcher described Tyra as the “elder stateswoman of the [Gospel Grace] team, starting with WEAA in 1989 and has more than 30 years of consistent service to our community by being a familiar voic of the community on WEAA. “Tyra is a sweetheart, as sweet as they come,” said Fletcher. “We are a family, my kids called her Aunt Tyra. It’s a shock, it’s a travesty and its really difficult to grapple with.”

Tyra leaves behind her mother, a sister and a son and as Gospel Grace team member Derek Fletcher says, a “group of other devoted relatives and friends.” She was the administrative assistant to the United States Post Master General for the DMV Region, a faithful member of First Apostolic Faith Church (South Caroline Street) where she sang in the choir and read the weekly church announcements.  There will be special 'Day of Dedication on Gospel Grace' this Sunday in Tyra's honor on WEAA 88.9 FM.
