Richard Sylvester Green

Baltimore police have arrested the suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of WEAA’s Tyra Womack whose "air name” was  Tyra Phillips. It happened last Wednesday outside her Lauraville home in the 2400 block of Albion Avenue.

Detective Donny Moses says in an email to WEAA, homicide detectives investigated this murder and quickly identified her neighbor, Richard Sylvester Green, 56, as the suspect, and obtained an arrest warrant.

“Warrant apprehension detectives Tuesday arrested Green in Rosedale in the 8600 block of Philadelphia Road in Baltimore County without incident,” said Moses. “Green was taken to central booking where he has been charged with 1st and 2nd degree murder.”

Funeral services for Tyra are this weekend; visitation is Friday at First Apostolic Church. Celebration of life services Saturday (Family Only), 11 a.m. Saturday, also at First Apostolic Church.
