12 positive cases detected at Morgan State the week of Sept. 27 to Oct. 1

(MSU Spokesman) Last week, there were 12 positive COVID-19 cases confirmed on campus. 52 cases have been detected on campus since the start of in-person instruction.

According to the weekly testing data provided by Anita Hawkins, associate dean in the School of Public Health and Policy, 1,138 tests were administered. Of the 1,138 individuals, 917 students and 221 employees were tested.

Out of 1,138 tests, six students and six employees tested positive. The university’s COVID-19 testing system saw a 50 percent decrease in positive cases after reaching a record high of 24 the week of Sept. 20 to Sept. 24.

“Even with vaccinations, we will see cases. We want to keep those numbers down,” Hawkins said. “We do encourage staying away from large crowds.”

On-campus COVID-19 testing is available to all individuals on campus. It is required for all unvaccinated students and staff to get tested twice weekly.

Testing is available on Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. in the University Student Center. To schedule a COVID-19 test, visit the University health portal.
