WEAA receives four nominations for Chesapeake AP Broadcasters Association Awards

(WEAA)— WEAA 88.9-FM has received four nominations in the 2021 Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association (CAPBA) Contest.

The CAPBA is an organization composed of radio and television members of The Associated Press (AP) throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., and Delaware.

The public radio station was nominated for Outstanding Talk Show, Outstanding Editorial or Commentary, Outstanding Public Affairs, and Outstanding Website.

According to AP officials, twenty-seven news organizations submitted over 350 entries, which consisted of news, sports and web stories from 2021.

Outstanding Talk Show:

Dr. Karsonya (Kaye) Wise Whitehead, Justina Pollard and Andre Melton, “An Attack on the Capitol is an Attack on Democracy”

Outstanding Editorial or Commentary:

Dr. Karsonya (Kaye) Wise Whitehead, Justina Pollard and Andre Melton,“Not an Equal Pay Day for All”

Outstanding Public Affairs:

Mike “Nyce” Middleton and Mike Ballard, “Baltimore City Mural Series”

Outstanding Website:

Micarie Kemp

The awards will be announced at the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards Banquet on Saturday, June 4 in Ocean City, Maryland.

Baltimore native, Micarie Kemp has always been passionate about working in the media.
