(Baltimore, MD) -- It was a violent Fourth of July holiday weekend in Baltimore as police investigate a series of shootings.
Police say three people were killed and nine others suffered injuries following a rash of shootings. Among the victims is a 14-year-old boy.
Investigators say most of the shootings occurred overnight and despite a heavy police presence.
Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said the violence occurred despite what he labeled a "robust deployment strategy everywhere across the city.”
The violence occurred as Baltimore recorded its deadliest month to date.
In June, the city averaged more than one homicide a day with thirty-nine people killed in gun violence.
