The Department of Education canceled the debt for about 200,000 people, including 4,000 in Maryland.
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said leaders at ITT "intentionally misled students about the quality of their programs in order to profit off federal student loan programs."
The move wipes out $73 million in student loan debt for local residents.
