(Baltimore, MD) -- As incidents of school violence continue to increase, at least one Baltimore City school is considering a high-tech option to keep students safe.
Mervo High School is considering a high-tech weapons detection system after an 18-year-old was found in possession of a loaded handgun and drugs at the school last week.
According to officials, the technology is able to detect weapons and alert security guards that a weapon is present.
Some parents are expressing concerns about the effectiveness of the technology, fearing that innocent students may get targeted by the system.
A similar weapons detection system is being used in middle and high schools on the Eastern Shore.
