Baltimore County opens emergency shelters due to forecast of freezing temperatures

(Towson, MD) -- Baltimore County has ordered emergency shelters to open due to the forecast of freezing temperatures.

County Emergency Management officials said the shelters will be open through Thursday to help those in need to find a warm place to shelter from the extreme cold.

While today will be mild and sunny, a weather system expected to arrive in the region late tonight dropping a mix of rain, sleet, and freezing rain into Thursday.

The wintry mix will continue through Thursday morning creating some slippery and treacherous driving conditions for the morning commute.
