(Baltimore, MD) -- The newest member of the Baltimore City school board -- Khalilah Slater Harrington -- has been sworn into office.

Mayor Brandon Scott nominated Slater Harrington last month to fill a vacancy on the board.
She was sworn in Monday. Mayor Scott says he chose her because of her two decades of experience in education, nonprofits and business.
Slater Harrington is the chief program officer for the Family League of Baltimore.
