(Annapolis, MD) -- Maryland Governor Wes Moore is outlining what he calls a new approach to public safety, which he says is his administration's top priority.
While unveiling the "Safe Summer Initiative" today in Annapolis, Moore said he inherited a surge in violent crime that carried over from former Governor Larry Hogan's administration.
He said Maryland has fallen behind other states in addressing the problem and he's committed to preventing crime, not just reacting to it.
He says his approach focuses on supporting law enforcement, building strong communities, keeping guns off the streets and coordinating efforts across all agencies of the government.
I'm proud to join @mtamaryland & community leaders in Baltimore to announce the relaunch of a major transit investment, the Red Line.
