(Baltimore, MD) -- The lawyer representing a suspect charged in last week's deadly mass shooting in Baltimore is seeking to have the teen tried in juvenile court.
Attorney Michael Clinkscale says the teen was himself injured in the shooting and says the gun he appears to be holding in a social media video was a toy weapon.
A judge on Monday denied bond for the 17-year-old boy, agreeing with prosecutors that releasing him would pose a risk to public safety.
The teen is facing misdemeanor firearms and reckless endangerment charges, but is not accused of shooting anyone.
Two people were killed and 28 were injured when gunfire erupted at a South Baltimore block party just after midnight on July 2.
