(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore City State's Attorney Ivan Bates has issued a statement following the verdict in the squeegee shooting trial.
Sixteen-year-old Tavon Scott was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and gun charges in the death of Timothy Reynolds near the Inner Harbor last year.
Scott was 14 when he shot Reynolds who swung a baseball bat at squeegee workers.
Bates says the outcome of the case does not change the trauma that has been inflicted across the board.
He says a man will never return home to his family and a young person now faces decades of incarceration.

Scott faces 35 years in prison and the sentencing hearing has not been scheduled.
The teen was tried as an adult but his defense attorneys plan to ask for a transfer to juvenile court for sentencing.
