(Baltimore, MD) -- Housing advocates are launching a campaign to create a land bank for Baltimore to help the city buy blighted properties and sell them to developers.
Yesterday, the group met in Park Heights in Northwest Baltimore to prepare strategy for setting up the bank.
More than 200 cities have established land banks.
City Councilwoman Odette Ramos has introduced a bill to create a land bank but so far, no hearing has been scheduled for her bill.
But officials with the city's housing department oppose the idea, saying the city already has a strategy to develop these properties.
