(Baltimore, MD) -- Mayor Brandon Scott is launching an Attendance Challenge for Baltimore City Public School students.
The initiative challenges every student to be on time, every day and schools making the most progress will be recognized throughout the year.
In addition to a trophy and certificate, there will be a special event for schools that have achieved significant progress at the end of the school year.
The Mayor says consistent attendance is a significant marker of a student's achievement, connection in school, and future success.
He says an all hands on deck approach is needed and hopefully the challenge will be a fun way to remind students about the importance of daily attendance while recognizing their progress.
