(Baltimore, MD) -- The City of Baltimore is moving forward with its plan to sell certain vacant properties for $1 each.

The city's Board of Estimate gave its approval yesterday.

The city owns 1,000 of the nearly 13,000 vacant homes in Baltimore.

Individuals and community land trusts can buy the properties for $1 but they would be sold to nonprofits for $1,000 a piece.

Developers and large nonprofits would pay $3,000 for the properties.

According to a report by WBAL, the new pricing structure only applies to city-owned homes that appear on the “Buy Into BMore” website.
