Congressman Mfume announces nearly $14 million in Community Project Funding

(Washington, DC) -- Maryland U.S. Representative Kweisi Mfume has announced nearly $14 million in Community Project Funding.

“This fiscal year’s government funding process was unprecedented, as Congress – on multiple occasions – narrowly avoided a catastrophic federal government shutdown. House Democrats remained committed to putting People Over Politics throughout negotiations and firmly rejected extreme Republican cuts and policies. We worked under the spirit of honest bipartisanship to unite both sides of the aisle and craft legislation that invests in America’s future and delivers for the American people,” said Congressman Kweisi Mfume.

The 7th District Congressman says the 15 recipients of the funding were determined following a careful and deliberate application process.

Some of the funding will go toward the acquisition and renovation of blighted properties in Park Heights, the Belvedere Place Affordable Rental Housing Development, and the Machine Works which will transform a blighted factory into a small business incubator that will create more than 100 new, local jobs.
