Baltimore County Executive vetoes school overcrowding bill

(Towson, MD) -- Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski is vetoing a bill aimed at easing school overcrowding.

Olszewski spoke at a news conference, saying he has legal concerns about the adequate public facilities ordinance recently passed by the County Council.

It would have limited housing development in areas with overcrowded schools.

The legislation would also change the criteria for overcrowding from 115 percent of capacity to 105 percent.

Council Chair Izzy Patoka says he's confident the Council will override Olszewski's veto.
