Baltimore prepares for remnants of Tropical Storm Debby

Credit: Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott

(Baltimore, MD) -- Mayor Brandon Scott says Baltimore City is taking significant steps to prepare for the impact of severe weather as the remnants of Hurricane Debby move up the East Coast.

Although Maryland is not in the direct line of the storm, there may be heavy rainfall, tidal flooding, possible tornadoes and gusty winds impacting the region.

The mayor says the city's Emergency Operations Center will be activated today, and Recreation and Parks has canceled all outdoor events and activities.

The Mayors Office Of Homeless Services will be opening an emergency shelter for Friday and Saturday at the Robert C. Marshall Recreation Center.
