(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott says the city is cutting ties with the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts.
The mayor sent a letter to BOPA's leadership Wednesday to let them know of the city's intent to exercise the 90-day termination clause in its contract with the arts organization.
In a statement, the mayor says ending the contractual relationship with BOPA was not a decision taken lightly.
He says the city is taking this step after deep and careful consideration, following several years of turmoil within the organization.
BOPA will execute the two remaining events outlined in the current contract, and after the events are complete, they will receive full payment for services rendered.
